All pages that can be validated, that is.  In some galleries we use javascript to create pages into a browser window on the fly, which the W3C validator cannot process.  We continue to use W3C XHTML standards on these pages even though it cannot be verified by the W3C validator.  This is still safe - browser technology prevents the inclusion of malicious code.

the Color Country Computing web site

The Color Country Computing web site was created to display the magnificent scenery and geology of Utah's Color Country, and to feature the incomparable OpenVMS operating system.

As one browses our site it will be evident that we have been experimenting with several formats involving component style and placement, gallery design, and differing designs under the hood.  A standard look and feel is coming close, but it will be long before it is propagated throughout the site - and, with our rebellious and non-conforming attitude, some pages may not be updated at all.  This is a gorgeous area of the earth with outstanding scenery and geology - sharing it is our focus, rather than design or look and feel.  We hope you enjoy what you see here.

Our intent is to provide home, gallery, and photo pages without scroll bars that load images instantly.  To minimize our footprint on the desktop, we open new windows inside the existing window or as a new tab inside the existing window if the viewer's browser is tab-enabled, photos and informational windows open as compact javascript windows with self-closing buttons, and photos within a gallery over-write each other if the previous selection has not been closed.  Off-site links open a new tab/window so they may be closed without interrupting the session at Color Country.

We design to W3C standards then create mods for Internet Explorer v7, v8, & v9; all pages validate to XHTML standards.

We continue to add outstanding scenery (like the sections on Scenic Byways U-12 and U-95 and the southwest's 11-year drought).  Some photos are ours, others are used with permission, and others are in the public domain.  Email us if you have photos you wish included here; we publish copyright info.
