Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
National Aeronautics and Space Administration

The first thumbnail opens a 1999 NASA satellite image of Lake Powell, with buttons for years 1999 to 2010 that replace each other when selected. Toggle 1999 and 2005 to show dramatically the effect of the drought on the lake. Go through them year-by-year to watch the annual change in the lake's elevation. [What? Chrome only will not load the 2000 image!]
The next six thumbnails open photos with water-bleached “bathtub rings” that highlight the 120' decline in the lake's elevation: Lone Rock, Glen Canyon Dam, and Face Canyon; with Cathedral Canyon, Moki Wall, and Anasazi Canyon from the 2008 GCNRA photo contest. The multi-photo thumbnail of the Bridge at Hite Crossing opens a page of drought and pre-drought photos comparing various levels of the lake at Hite Crossing. The 2011 Update button opens a 5-year graph (it says 3) of the lake's water level - updated as often as I remember to do it. Click a thumbnail to view its photo.
