Lake Powell in Drought

Spring 2010 Update

The first image opens a choice of two slide shows (2-slide high and low years, or 12-slide history 1999-2010) of NASA sattelite images that may be toggled back and forth, overlaying each other to show how Lake Powell has shrunk during the drought (Internet Explorer may blank the page before opening the next one so instant overlay may not happen).  The next three photos come from YouTube - Lone Rock and Glen Canyon Dam (they share a page), and Face Canyon.  The 2008 GCNRA photo contest provides the next three photos - the “bathtub rings” are shown in dramatic fashion.  The multi-photo image of Hite Crossing, and the page it loads, compares various levels of the lake during the drought.  More photos of Hite Crossing at Grand & Glen Canyon Bridges.       Click an image for a larger version.
