Burr Trail is an historic route, opened prior to any roads in the area. More information and pictures are available at the Burr Trail link on the Scenic Color Country Page.
We've modified the close button with this message so it will not close the window and kick you out of here.

Navigation: Placing the mouse pointer over highlighted text without underlines opens an information box similar to that on the right, at other times a photo. Clicking underlined text opens a new window. The highlighted text above opens the Burr Trail information box found in Scenic U-12, and a Google patchwork window. Galleries offer two ways of viewing its photos (we are working on this, some are not finished) - selecting photos individually, or browsing through the gallery using links at the bottom, which may include any of the following:

Viewing photos: We attempt to cache (pre-load) photos so they will appear instantly when selected in the gallery. Some galleries have a lot of them - some are huge - and may take some time to finish. These are irritating delays for which we apologize, but it is required for images to appear instantly when selected. With some browsers, a photo may be viewed as soon as it appears (response time may be slow as the page continues to load), other browsers will simply freeze until the page has finished loading. When the status bar (if present) says “Done,” all the photos have loaded. They stay in cache so the page will load quickly on subsequent trips, until the cache is flushed. We assume a decent-speed broadband internet connection - this site cannot be viewed with a dial-up connection, it would take interminable hours to download the photos.
Browser notes: We develop in Firefox using its unique toolbox, then modify for other browsers - we use Firefox. But Google Chrome may be the browser to use - it is compact and very fast - we have been impressed by Chrome. Opera is really wierd, but if used full-screen to counter its non-standard Javascript engine, it displays most pages properly. Internet Explorer is klunky and terribly slow. We realize most viewers use IE so mods are in place to load our pages satisfactorily in IE v7 & v8.
